Editorial Review | Wausau Homes is a quality provider in the component homes marketplace. They no longer provide modular homes. They have a long established reputation of providing quality homes and are worth a look if you are in the market for a component home. Our mystery shopper reports that they do have a nice website but it is missing some useful information. |

Personal Reviews of Wausau Homes, Inc.

New owner. small company. expensive. Dealers are realtors with no building experience. Caution.

These panelized builders like Wausau and Amwood are a joke. BY the time all the subs are done it's 9 months later, should have bought modular, would have been done in a week on site.

I bought this home through USDA and it has double pane windows that cant be cleaned Between. Theres the double pane inside and the storm windows outside. I would have to take all the screws out of outside storms and take off to clean between the Windows. It seems they should have put something a lot easier to clean between. Mine look awful when I clean inside and out Looks like I did nothing. It was built in 79 And is very drafty. All electric heat which is under the windows so I've had to hem all the curtains and still the heat rises up into the curtains. And there is just one long on in each room so I cant put anything on that Wall or it blocks the heat. My feet are always Cold. I dont think USDA was suppose to loan Me for this home and trying to keep it in good Shape has been a chore because it is like a trailer House. The bedrooms barely have room for beds And a dresser. The closet doors are cheap and with In the first year I was her were off the tracks. Cheap Doors and paneling, trim, walls. Would not but another Used one. And the people who had it built and lived here A very long time were old no kids. No way Could I resale and get my money back. Everything is so Compact in the bathrooms was awful trying to get a Walking tub installed. The toilets are so low I cant hardly get up. The sinks are brown and green so everything I get for them has to match their colors. It's been a pain And a lot of work to live here. Costly with all electric Everything.

This is the second Wausau home we have owned, the first a very basic 1980's raised ranch, this one a one story, 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath built around 2004. Both have been very sturdy ( even the first one was built better than my two stick built homes) and we feel the trim, windows, etc. are the quality we would expect in the price range we wanted. It seems as if the complaints are all contractor related. I would recommend one to people I know.

We built our home in 98. Ranch style 1500 + square foot home. We just updated the paint ,flooring, countertops, fireplace and bathrooms and finish the basement a few years ago..but we have been please since the day we had it built. Devenport Construction in Moberly Missouri did a wonderful job. If I have to say something that wasn't perfect it was the sheetrock but just in spots. we did have trouble getting from the construction loan to a conventional loan because the bank questioned the type of construction of the home. They thought it was a mobile home or a prefab home but Wausau sent plans to the bank to show them that it is a Pannell home no different than a stick-built home, that was when we got our loanI would recommend anyone getting a Wausau home !!

Inherited a 1975 201 Model.from my mom. This house is a joke. No Mortgage Comp's will touch it for a Mortgage with a ten foot pole. NO ONE. I fear i am going to have to move to the country or Donate it to our local Housing Dept. Would love to rent it out, but taxes, ins, etc will hold up alot of the fees collected.

we built 5 Wausau homes over the years, Dick Heib homes of Black river falls was our builder. We miss Dick terribly, he passed away during one of our builds. We LOVE Wausau homes...in fact we are looking at another one right now...

over priced crap. windows do not pass iowa code. sellers are realtors with NO modular experience. LOST

Worst experience of my life! My builder lacks knowledge that a general contractor should have. The laundry is in the basement, but he never planned to have hookups added. He also did not have heat runs placed in the basement where there are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. He has made this process a nightmare! I am telling everyone I know about my experience and I am using social media as well!

Where do i start.... I had the Home built in the fall of 1977, was so happy, my first home built. Was very pleased at the layout and design of the time. Over the years have replaced a few things i thought should have been a better quality wood, but for what it was , was good. at this time the home needs some desperate renovation but not because of the manufacturing quality. A home is like an automobile they need good service, upkeep, and its how their taken care of. Recently have been remodeling (something i never thought id do), the home in my opinion is built SOLID as far as framing and structure, a person could not ask for much better quality homes. Oh yes and when it was built the delivery was on time it was exciting to see my home being built! So for all of You thats thinking of having a home built, Go Wausau! I am actually considering having another style Wausau Home built.

I am currently building worth Wausau now and it has been the worst expense of my life. My local contractor has little knowledge of how to be a general and my 3 month timeline is approaching a full year. They give me days when workers will be there and then a week later, they show up. Stay away from Manchester, Iowa Wausau.

Build 1995. Very good. Move in a month

Home was built in 1977. We have a ranch-I think the model was "the imperial". A pretty sturdy house, still today! The floors do not squeak!

We have a 1975 Wausau Home and it is made more solid than most new homes today. Not fancy, but solid. It still has all the origianl features, including the windows. Floors don't creek when you walk through the house either..love that!

Nothing but problems...Can't get to the plumbing or heating ducts..Can't sell it..What a disaster

K&K Builders of Grove City, Ohio were our local Wausau Home builder. Both the quality of the Wausau Home, the builder and their sub-contractors, impressed us. We have been in our home two years and there have been no problems.
