Editorial Review | Terrace Homes is an average provider of modular homes. Their building specifications are slightly better than the average modular home we have seen. We also enjoyed their floorplans which nicely match the look of stick-built homes. We feel Terrace Homes would be a good option for mid range home buyers. They have several model homes that you can tour for you to better decide if they are the right match for you. We did receive some mixed information about Terrace Homes. This might have been due to an innocent misunderstanding. As with any modular home builder, it would be a good idea to double check the details and make sure your contract clearly states what you want. Our mystery shopper also reports that their website has helpful information for modular home buyers. |

Personal Reviews of Terrace Homes

I closed on my home with Terrace on December 31, 2013 with the promise they would finish whatever was not done in the next few months. It is now over 4 and 1/2 years later and they still have not finished my home. At this time it still does not meet building code. I have called and left messages, emailed and texted Mark M. I have left messages for Ruth M. No one will return a call or respond in any way. The only option I have is to take legal action against them.

I specifically requested them to provide me a quote of their Abby model home via email and they refused to give me a quote as the request came in thru the internet, and they refused to give out quotes to people over the internet. I then emailed them back, explained to them that I'm out of state and wanting them to build a home for me within 60 miles of their location, they repeated, that if I wanted to get a quote I would need to physically walk into the facility. I then called them and explained the situation and they still refused to give me a quote, gave me an exorbert price of over $300,000 for a 1700 sq ft home, saying on average their homes cost over $300,000, even though I only requested them to quote 1215 sq ft. That is quite surprising giving that is over 3 times the value of an average home in Wisconsin. When I explained to them I already outlined exactly what I was looking for and could make this an easy transaction this year, they said they are no longer accepting business to build a home in 2017 as they have a bigger client to service in Milwaukee. When I told them this was the worst customer service I had ever received, the female owner talked to her mom (family owned business), and got back to me and said they were not interested in the project. She then emailed me and said, no buyer I know would ever ask for a quote without looking at the model. I said, last time I checked, you are required to build the home to state code like all builders are and you all use the same products from the same vendors.

We just purchased a home last year and it is 14 years old. I've found it to be great however, just recently we had a cedar board fall off our chimney. We are planning a wedding at our home so we want our house to look great. We went to replace a section of cedar and found the entire chimney to be completely rotted. The ply wood was crumbling, the foam they used was so saturated with water. Luckily we caught this before any mold invaded our interior walls. We found it to be from the flashing along the chimney. I contacted the original owner and she stated they would be responsible. I am hoping to contact them and have them help resolve the issue. Basically for the last 14 yrs there has been water running into the chimney wall rotting it away. Bud your son is apparently not the only one with water leaks.

Our terrace is 14 years old. Overall we are happy. Most of are complaints are due to quality control. My sons home is another story, he has a two story, purchased when it was two years, now 15. He has to my count 5 water leaks the fourth one caused $10,000 worth of damage, The water line was resting on a 10 penny nail that cut the water line, he now in process of pulling up his hardwood floors & carpeting. He is almost ready to have them replaced, and now he has another leak coming through the ceiling, it is just a nightmare. he has gotten no satisfaction from terrace homes. He asked for a water line blue print, but they sent him one of the PVC, I don't think they have one of the water lines because don't do two alike. they just do it as they go, he has pictures of all the leak, except for the one he is trying to find now. His terrace has be a nightmare for him, But he has not gotten one bit of help from Terrace homes. Beware of buy two story home from Terrace Homes. Are there any others out there having water leak problems. He has cut more hole in his ceiling trying to find and repair water leaks, and now he has another he can't find. Beware of Terrace Homes.

Have been in my home for 23 years and was one of the best decisions I've ever made! Now I am trying to help my daughter plan her new home.

We built our Terrace Home in 2007 and absolutely love it. We believe the quality of the home and attention to detail we received can't be beat. The sales team helped us to design the house we wanted, and we were able to visit the factory and see "our" house being built. Their job expediters came to our property to stake out the house and help us achieve the view we desired. The entire building process only took three months and we were living in our new home. Terrace handled everything for us, from building permits, to excavation, to foundation, etc, they are truly the only "TURN KEY" builders out there. The only thing we had to do was move in. I would recommend Terrace to anyone looking to build in the State of Wisconsin. We absolutely love our house and don't believe the quality can be beat!

We are preparing to celebrate our 2nd anniversary in our beautiful Terrace Home. From the first walk through at the model home, we were sold. The quality blew away everything else we had seen in the 2 years of visiting different builders, samples, models, etc. The folks at Terrace made us feel like family from our first visit on. And when selecting options, colors, and floor plans they provided suggestions without the hard sell, and let "us build our home". From the first days of watching our home being built inside the warehouse, to the setting, and turnover day the folks at Terrace answered every question, and helped us understand every phase of the process, and showed the care and concern for our home as if they were building it for themselves. Our freinds and family who have visited have been amazed at the quality, details, how comfortable the great room is. I would recommend Terrace to anyone who is thinking of building any home. Guaranteed - you will not find any better ! ! !

When we decided to start building a second home in Wisconsin we looked at a lot of builders, none of them could hold a candle to the Terrace built homes. The outstanding family own company builds the best houses and their attention to quality and detail can not be beat. We were involved in the entire process, from planning the design, choosing materials and colors, and setting the house on the foundation. It was a very exciting process to see our dream home being built in the factory, moving on the truck, and set down by a crane...it was just a few months start to finish. And because our home was built in the factory it was never open to the elements during a lengthy "traditional" building process. The Manternach family is dedicated to customer support and service. They are wonderful people to work with. They hire the highest quality people, and that shows in the craftsmanship of our home. The plans were perfect, the work was perfect, and our home in Wisconsin is absolutely perfect. I would highly recommend this builder to anyone looking for a new home. A Terrace home will outlast and outshine any other "stick built" home.

We started our building process in October 2007, and we moved into our new home May 2008! We absolutely LOVE our home. Terrace was able to build our own design that we brought into the office, and was able to re-design some areas to make it our own. We have a partially finished basement as well that looks great with the rest of the home. We chose Terrace after looking at some other engineered homes around the state, but Terrace was the only builder that was able to meet our design dreams. We decided to go the route of engineered home mainly because we knew we were building during winter weather, and felt much more confident after our tour of Terrace Home's plant.
Although Terrace has their own design studio and Interior Designer on staff, we were still able to pick and choose items from magazines/catalogs that Terrace did not have in their design center. Terrace then researched and purchased those items for our home. In addition, Terrace was able to widen all door ways, make all fixtures ADA compliant and keep within the energy star certification we really desired.
After completion a couple of minor finishing issues were completed by calling the office. On our year anniversary, Terrace came out again and fixed any settling issues or little problems we noticed during the year of living in the home.
We are a firm believer in "you get what you pay for", and it is true. Our home is a show stopper, and every person, including family can not believe this is not a stick built home. When asked who our custom home builder was, we proudly say Terrace Homes!

We looked around at other modular manufacturers as we wanted to build a lake home, we searched for a couple years before we came upon Terrace Homes. We visited their facility in Friendship, WI and toured the model homes, and we were impressed with their designs and quality workmanship. We went with a Terrace Home and are VERY HAPPY with our decision to do so. We received exceptional service at every turn, and our home turned out beautifully - we love it! When our friends & family come visit the home, they just can't believe its modular, and we are proud to tell people that we have a Terrace Home. In fact we are looking to build another for our retirement.

I'm sure you will not print my opinion but here goes.We built our Terrace Home 9yrs.ago,we have had our share of problems...the BIG one is our roof.Everytime we get a wind our shingles blow up and off we have had it patched 5 times so far this last time was this month Sept.2011,we have called Mark at Terrace Homes many times but he has not returned our calls. Our insurance ajuster said ALL the shingles were put on wrong and we will continue to have this problem!!!!! Very disapointed with their customer service!!!!!

We've been in our home for a bit over a year now and love our Terrace Home. We are on a lake and wanted a distinctive, well built and energy efficient home. We drove many miles looking at all the model homes, by as many different manufacturers that we could find and kept coming back to Terrace Homes. They were head over heels above everyone else's we looked at in terms of design and quality. We did not want a "cookie cutter" modular house that looked like a deluxe trailer home (if you've walked through some, you know what we mean!). We wanted a "stick built" house made in a factory. It took a long time to get the final design because of all the restrictions involved in building on a narrow lake front property (the septic system alone was a project in and of itself!). Terrace Homes cheerfully stuck with us all the way through all the zoning and permit meetings with township and county goverment. They did massive changes to the original design for us and kept changing it as necessary to satisfy all the setback and zoning regulations as they came up. Custom designing is no problem for them. The end result for us is a home that is everything that we dreamed of while in the design stage. After completion a couple of minor finish problems were solved with one phone call. We constantly receive compliments on the home by our friends. Although a bit more in price compared to the other companies we looked at, Terrace Homes more than makes up for it in substantial gains in overall quality and workmanship. The service we received is icing on the cake. We whole heartedly recommend them to anybody looking for above average materials and workmanship in a modular home.
