Editorial Review | We do not feel comfortable with Oxford Homes since they have had bankruptcy issues and are currently closed. It is not normally the best thing to make your biggest investment with a company that has bankruptcy issues. It would be terrible you pay for a home that never arrives. With the bankruptcy issues we have also heard reports of layoffs. For the near future it seems risky to deal with Oxford Homes. They would be a good option of modular homes for Maine modular home buyers since their factory is located in Maine and that reduces the transportation expenses. They seem to be targeting mid-range to upper scale modular home buyers. Oxford Homes is a smaller operation and this seems to help them provide better customer service and attention. Our mystery shopper did have several issues with their website so it would be best to call them for more information. Excel Homes is attempting to buy Oxford Homes. It should be interesting to see what happens. |

Personal Reviews of Oxford Homes, Inc

Have a modular Oxford home (Greenwood Model) built in 1994. Bought it in 2015 and now have experienced the 3rd consecutive winter with cold water pipes freezing. Come to find out from a quality home inspector and contractor experienced with modular homes that the manufacturer (Oxford Homes) never installed Tyvek type insulation house wrap over the plywood and beneath the vinyl siding as required by building code at the time. Wish they were in business now as I'd go after them.

since buying this pre-existing OXFORD modular home 10 years ago, I have had several occasions to discover the poor quality in many areas of their construction. I think the house was constructed in the mid 80's. If they are still producing this level of quality into a modular home they should be shut down.

We have lived in our modular for 11 years and each year we dislike it more. It cost a lot more than we had thought it would and we have had water damamge from the first rain that fell on us here due to a poorly installed shower and the roof that was not shingled all the way to the edge. Plus the windows did not stay open and some of the doors would not latch. There are MANY things that did not work well from the day we moved into the house and I contacted the contrator and manufacturer several times about the problems trusting that these things would be fixed, but we are still waiting. We have told many people about our experiences warning them about modulars. We know we would never buy another modular if we had a chance to try to buy another house, but for now we cannot afford to make any changes.
