Editorial Review | Norse Homes was an average modular home builder. They offered customization and upgrade options. We were unable to find enough builders to vouch for their quality so we were not very comfortable with Norse Homes. |

Personal Reviews of Norse Homes

Excellent quality and very beautiful home. I would not have changed a thing.

I designed and built multiple custom Norse Homes. The structural quality was outstanding. I specified plywood sheathing on the homes I built. The material selections were generally good with Tyvek building wrap and Jeldwen vinyl windows standard. The cabinets and millwork were generally well done with several options available. The homes I built were completely custom with site built architectural details such as covered porches, decks, balconies and entry dormers with barrel vaults constructed by my team. The Owens Corning Oakridge shingles have been reported as defective and were standard at the time I was building Norse homes. Norse offered 16' wide modules with hinged eaves, the only company I have ever seen that offered a 16' module with a 2' overhang for a total of 18'. I really liked their product and currently live in a custom Norse Modular. I heard they made a big bet on reconstruction after hurricane Katrina, which never materialized. Their new factory in Louisiana, along with the economic crash was apparently too much of a burden. They had great customer service and always followed through on warranty claims or repairing minor defects. Another reviewer reported a damaged bathtub which was not repaired. I would assume this was around the time the company was ceasing operations. My home is 12 years old and is rock solid. The devil is in the details and the finished product is only as good as the contractor that finishes it.

We had our Norse home built in May of 1999 and it has been perfect in every way. The only problem we've encountered is with the Norco windows they talked us into after requesting Anderson windows. At present we have 8 windows that need replacing, so we really wish we would have stuck to our guns and got the windows we knew would be reliable. Other than that, the entire house is structurally sound and looks the same as the day we moved in. We did request the higher end of all the important things, so that probably makes a difference in durability as well. We also know a few other people in our area who have had a Norse home about as long as we have, and no one has had a complaint. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the window issue.

My son, Jeffrey Benson has Norse Home--moved into it 12/23/06---came with a broken bath tub--present people say Norse does not exist and they have no responsibility------------
