Editorial Review | Kit Homebuilders is a provider of manufactured mobile homes and modular homes. They seem to target the mid range market. Their homes are good when compared with other mobile homes but it is not fair to compare them with very high end stick-built homes and the customization that can be achieved with those homes. If you are looking for a good value then Kit homes could be a good choice for you. If you are looking for a modular home that will blend in with upper scale stick-built homes then you should consider looking at other home builders. |

Personal Reviews of Kit Homebuilders West

We absolutely LOVE our modular home from Kit West! Every detail has been done to a tee! Our home is solid, well insulated, and just beautiful! "Made to order" and done well! I love the look on the faces of visitors, who always comment on how well made our home is! How "shocked" they are that a modular home looks better than site built. We had one problem...the microwave did not work...but that is not Kit West, but Frigidaire. AND when Frigidaire dropped the ball, and wouldn't send a repair man, Kit West stepped up and replaced it for us! Our home was ready pretty much right on the target date. Due to bad weather, the delivery was a few days later, but gosh, better safe than sorry! We feel very blessed to have such a beautiful, well built home, and are thankful to both Kit West, and our fantastic dealer, Sheridan Homes of Wyoming. Together, they made our dream come true! I recommend them to everyone!

I had my kit doublewide mfg.home built for me in Caldwell,Id. in 1992.My wife and I absoultly love it.It is warm, will hold an enormous snow load, and is quite comfortable.However--we are having a grave problem with our plumbing now.The cold water is down to a pencil thin stream.all over the house. One bathroom is even worse than the other. The pipes are a grey plastic. Will have to get a plummer in very soon.We have taken very good care of our home, and most things have lasted as they should.

If there was a -1000 that us what this "company" should get. Lie from the day they got half our money. Nothing done like promised. 6-10 weeks turn key promised. That was March 9, 2015. Its Dec 19, 2015 and we still cant refinance. We are paying lots of money not planned to fix what they should have done right from the start. Siding blown off, counters cracked-seamed wrong-not glued down, water not hooked up right-leaks everywhere, heater not working (sub-zero temps), so many things wrong. No one from company will even come look at the mess. Wrong color paint sent to cover the "patch work". Thiefs, crap work, wont fix anything.

the house is junk the upgrades are a joke i feal this was a mastake to purchase a home bilt by kit .I can't reckamend a home by u or my dealer the house was on site at thanksgiving I still cant move in 1-18-14 what a joke!!

The starting process was as they said, which was around a month and to our purchasing decisions. Our house was brought in on flatbeds and a crane hoisted it onto the set foundation. Murphy's law was in effect as the foundation was poured wrong and it broke, setting our house back 2 weeks. Once in and finished, our kit house looked better than the stick built houses being our neighbors. I chose all gas which after 14 years still runs great. I updated the floors with laminate flooring in all heavy traffic areas which is now an issue with the main I-beam running the length of the house is raised a bit with the rest of the house settling. My floor is now raising due to the I-beam. I am impressed with the house but unfortunately the resale price has dropped due to the title being a manufactured house instead of modular. Overall the structure is still sound and the fact that mine looks like the 16 stick built houses in my neighborhood is a bonus for housing market plus mine is more efficient due to all gas. I give this builder 4 stars as there was room for finishing that wasn't done and gone unnoticed until I updated the house.

My Kitt home has been falling apart since day 0ne.Their customer service is inappropiatly staffed. The marriage seam has fallen appart three times, each time they came out to fix it they just put a bandade on it.The windows leak every time the wind blows. the kitchen cabinets are falling apart. After repeatdly complaining to Kitt, they quit taking our calls. The list goes on and on.Invest your hard earned cash somewhere else.

Regretting our choice of trying to purchase a modular home from these people. We have been approved & made our down payment on Jan. 15th...today is July 18 & our home has not been started yet. Our paperwork was at Kit for 4 mos before it was sent in to the state for approval & has been at the state since May 10. We have neighbors who have went thru very similar issues from buying there. If things are going to take so long a customer needs to know up front.

The Best Prefabricated home you can buy in or around Montana. My first impression while at our local MT dealer in Belgrade was "WOW" I never new these prefabricated homes were as solid built as any site built home out there. I mean the construction and attention to detail was impeccable. Sure the salesman was telling me the benefits of there KIT home just like all the other dealers I went to prior to my purchase of my KIT home. Every dealer says they have the best product on the market, and of course they do not know that I myself am in fact a home builder. The reason I didn't build my own home is because of time and COST. These guys and gals at KIT are on such a higher building scale that I can't even build a home for what they charge and I use all the same materials they use! It's been 11 months, almost a year now that I have been in my KIT home and have yet to worry about any issues, and if I did I know that I have warranty and service readily available. Something that I myself cannot offer to customers I build homes for. I give KIT a 5 star rating and would give them a 10 if there were 10 stars. My sales guy in Belgrade delivered the home exactly the way I ordered it and have nothing negative to say. Good Quality product produced by KIT.
