Editorial Review | Habitec 2000 homes are best suited for the entry level home buyer. We have not heard enough about them to have a high level of confidence just yet for them to be able to handle projects that require alot of custom work and finer detail. Their website was frustrating to use but did have a very cool virtual designer tool. It allows you to customize the home and see the appearance change in front of your eyes. It seems that it can only be used on one home style. |

Personal Reviews of Habitec-2000

Simply dissapointing.....we were missing roof trusses, shingles, shipping damages, terrible service from the delivery crew, crooked doors, crooked plugs and light switches, drywall crews that were misplaced or pulled completely through the board, overpriced, etc etc, they should just give up because peoples lives are worth more than some greedy fly making money. Choose another home builder, trust me on this.

We purchased a home from Habitec in 2005 and was it delieverd to Ellsworth, Maine. We liked the design and the quality of the products. After one year we had some problems with different parts of the house and contacted Habitec. The owner and manager, Yves Cliche and Gervais Lariviere were very good at giving us the runaround and kept telling us it would be taken care of and fixed, when in fact they had no interest at all in or issues or the warranty on the home. We contacted the Sate of Maine, Attorneys Generals office, and filed a complaint against the company which in turn did nothing to remedy the the issues. Habitec said they were done with our house, and would not honor the warranty as they were going through financil problems and felt they did not need to do it. Habitec also did not pay for the work the Maine dealer submitted with more excuses.. We discovered that dealing with a Canadian Company that cared little for its customers in the States was a big mistake. They knew there was nothing we could do as they were on the other side of the border and a typical answer from Yves was, I can't help you, don't call me with your problems. There was little The State of Maine could as it was a foreign counrty to make them honor their warrenty. We had nothing but, lies and decit on the part of Habitec and would advise anyone in the states to avoid doing any business with this shoddy company. They were only interested in getting our money and writing us off as soon as the check was cashed. The State of Maine's Attorney Generals office has a complete record of the company on file if there is any doubt about their track record.

I built my home in 1999. For quality workmanship coming from the factory, the house was built solidly. I would give the quality of the home 5 stars. What caused me to give them 3 stars is the dealer we worked with, he was a crook and unfortunately, the people at Habitec directly, who would prefer for us to deal with the dealer, had to deal with us directly. I know of 2 other homes the same dealer was putting together for them and it was a total nightmare for all of us. It was a shame because Habitec themselves are a great company, they just didn't do their homework on who was to represent them. My house was not put together by a professional, it was very, very poorly put together. We actually were in disbelief and had to take several pictures of the house and write to the attorney general because the dealer (who was a fly by night dealer, last I heard he was spotted driving a taxi cab for a living)was a crook. Anyway, I wouldn't be leary of Habitec, just of their dealers, and since Habitec is responible for those people representing them, well, I found it disappointing that they would let a bunch of hackers represent them and attempt to put up one of their well-built homes.
