Our Review

Editor's Rating
Editorial ReviewColeman Homes filed for bankruptcy in 2009 and is now closed. It focused on the Texas marketplace and building homes in specific communities. If your situation matched Coleman Homes limited offering, that is great. But if you were like our mystery shopper you were probably not very happy. When we asked other builders about Coleman Homes we had a hard time to find positive comments.

Personal Reviews of Coleman Homes

Tom from Texas
I have owned 2 Coleman Homes over the past 12 years and have had nothing but exceptional service from this company. On the few occasions we had warranty issues, they were resolved in a very quick and professional manner. I only had one occasion to speak with the President of the compnay, Mike McKinney and was treated with the utmost respect. The quality of both of my homes was excellent and I would buy another one if they were still in business.

Sharpe from TX
I am sorry to hear different customers having trouble with Coleman Homes. I purchased a home from them in late 2004, and I feel that it was one of the better homes I have ever owned in Texas. Aside from a few minor issues, the building staff always addressed our complaints. I would purchase another Coleman Home today, especially in the plan I had previously owned. I hope everyone’s issues get resolved.

Mike Mckinney has no idea how to run a business. Mike Mckinney is trying to file for chapter 7 bankruptcy. It states he has no property to sell for his debt! Funny thing is he does. He was smart enough to transfer the remaining property to a new name. He is supposed to be our HOA president as well. We have had a streetlight laying on the ground for 3 months, our bills are all past due, and the weeds are taller than my 6 year old. He will not return any phone calls, or e-mails. I have even sent letters with no response. Coleman homes and Mike Mckinney are a joke. They use the cheapest materials they can find and don't stand behind any of the work. Cheap, dishonest, and downright rude. Coleman homes should not be in business.

There wasn't a way to give them no stars. Just go to the website for channel 11 news Fort Worth, to the video archives. Go to the date of August 15, 2008 and look for the "Keller Family Sick From Mold" story. Mike Mckinney the owner and President of Coleman Homes, and the builder Charles were inconsiderate of a toddler and my family being sick from the mold. They improperly built our master bathroom. The President and Owner Mike Mckinney verbally assaulted me with children present in my neighbors house. She asked me to be present to help her, because I had dealt with them already for a long period of time. I have a police report and a witness to prove it. All I did was recite one of the TRCC rules about building and that made him angry. They are extremely difficult to work with, and I still have numerous things on my inspection year end warranty report that need to be completed. I turned it in May of '08. The date now is June of '09. On top of this I have a nausea problem now that has been confirmed by doctors. It is due to the extreme stress I went through. Don't make yourself sick with their lack of professionalism.

This builder is not our favorite. Very low quality and it is very hard to deal with them. Pretty much build a really crappy home.
