Editorial Review | BonnaVilla Homes which is part of Chief Industries builds good quality homes. These are solid homes that are good options for many home buyers. Their construction is above average quality with several builders having good things to say about this company. Their website has online brochures, videos and photos. This might not be the best option for upper scale home buyers who are less concerned about value and more concerned about luxury. These are good value homes that will stand up well over time. If you are in the Central US you should consider BonnaVilla Homes for your next modular home. |

Personal Reviews of Chief Industries/BonnaVilla Homes

I purchased my home December 2015 after losing my home to a fire in 2012. I was told I would have it by Spring 2016 I went to NB to pick out the finishing products and set an appt to go to NB to see my home as it was being built. The day before I was to drive to NB I was told it was not started yet. The dealer I bought the home from called the factory and I was told it would be done the first part of summer. The Manager was aggravated at my frustration, however I could have had my home built on site by this time. He said he was not responsible for what someone else told me. Long story short, the day I was suppose to drive to NB (2nd time) I was told it was not started yet. I called Missouri Public Service Commission, Manufactured Housing and Modular Units Program and discovered they had not filed the paperwork for my home until the middle of July. My home was built in a couple weeks and delivered the end of August. The quality suffered... Since then, I have replaced lights, toilets, painted walls and done a lot of work myself. I upgraded my flooring to vinyl plank so I would not have a marriage line strip. My flooring was glued down from outer walls inward so I have a strip of vinyl laying overtop each side, there are gaps between each plank that dirt and gravel get into. My shower glass door was put in upside down in my master bath. A representative came from NB to take pictures and make a report... with no authorization to repair over a year ago. He told me it was put in upside down. A few months ago my son took a picture with a credit card behind the manufacturer label that was upside down in the right hand corner and proved the claim that it was installed incorrectly...I sent an email with the picture to the Customer Service Mgr. Al Wischert who continues to state they do not have a door that opens out the way I need . The problem is that the glass door opens and hits my toilet. This is a safety issue. He continues to deny it is an installation problem, he says it is a product issue, the same as my flooring, telling me I have to get in touch with Shaw to replace my flooring. My house has cost us much more than having it custom built. I am contacting the Atty General in NB with proof of all of my issues. The local dealer here, skipped out, I recently received an email from a person I do not know saying he is filing criminal charges... so that leaves no one locally to finish my local work and no one to mediate. Almost 3 years since I started this journey and we are still battling to get what we paid for... quality work in less time than a site built home. What a nightmare, buyer beware!

We have a 1978 model and the structure of this home is phenomenal! We have remodeled and updated but we would highly recommend to purchase a Bonnavilla. We have ours on a basement with attached garage. It is an extremely solid built home. We love it.

Best modular on the market. 9 week build time compared to Stratford Homes 4 1/2 months, which we heard was pretty well built.

i've purchased 5 homes in my lifetime - and this experience is the worst by far. the local retailer, their construction connection, as well as the factory, all seem to be uncaring about all the problems. we started pointing them out november 1st '16 (immediately after setting home) and for 7 weeks the house was empty to address them. even our walk through december 15th was the same problems - just more added. we've spent 58 total days in the house (which still looks like a huge double wide trailer since they can't get the drywall and paint issues fixed) with one of my customer 4x8 foot showers only used 10 days total due to all the poor quality tile work. besides the construction issues, ALL the paint inside and outside is horrible, we have electrical issues which seem to not be a concern for them, we complained about the water from day 1 - christmas day was the first day we spent in the house. had no hot water and poor water pressure. lukewarm water entered into the picture the following thursday but the pressure still was an issue. when i had to have another water filtration system put in at my expense -$2700, the company that installed that noticed that the plumbing was not connected properly from the well to the hot water unit. of course the retailer and construction company insisted that could not be true. but after they sent a plumber of their own out....guess who now has hot water and better pressure! plenty more of these to complain about. i knew this would be my last house, i just didn't think this experience would be the death of me. what i know now i wish i'd known then.

Our folks and my Husband and I both purchased BonnaVilla homes at the same time and had them set on acreage beside each other. They had numerous problems with their home. We also had issues with ours. I gave the rating as a 3, because structurally , we are pleased with the home, however, the finish work is a nightmare. Within months, my folks had to replace their floors, as their were spaces between the tiles, that you could put a nickle in. We also had the same issues, and will have to replace our floors. Both of our showers leak, and we are still trying to fix that problem. There was no support under either of the tubs, which my husband fixed. The doors to the exterior of the homes did not fit properly. My folks paid for upgraded wooden doors throughout their home, and they all had cracks in them and had to be replaced. When we complained, they would send someone out to make repairs, but they made a bigger mess then we already had. The person they sent, was repairing some of my white trim, and used something that made all of the paint bubble. I had to go back and sand and paint all of the trim in the entire house. We got to the point that we decided to just do the repairs ourselves. After numerous phone calls and letters to Chief, and the help of our dealer, they finally settled with us, to cover some of the work we have to do. It was for an amount that would not even allow us to replace our floors. There were many other issues, to numerous to list, and some we are still dealing with. We are all extremely disappointed in Chief homes as a company. They say that they inspect every home before it leaves the lot, but if that is true, they should have seen these problems. If it would have just been one our homes that had problems, I may have just chalked it up to a bad crew on the finish assembly line, but where it was both, I'm sure they have had issues with other people and the problems are not getting solved. We are in an area where Modular home popularity is growing. I will make sure that everyone I know, is aware of the finish work and customer service issues of Chief homes.

I love the 2014 Jacksonville floor plan we have, we moved in august 2014 and couldn't find anything to change. We love it and Seeger homes did an awesome job with setting the house and the service issues.

I purchased my home in July 2007. For the most part it is a very nice home. It is a prow home that I believe is the Frisco model that I can no longer find in the BonnaVilla brochure. I ordered special shingles for this house with a 6/12 pitch roof. The shingles are rated for 130 mile an hour wind if installed correctly. I used the same shingle on my garage roof and with winds over 80 miles an hour no problem. This morning after high winds last night I found a piece of a shingle in my front yard. The cellophane over the seal down strip was still in place. I went to the back of the house and a very large area was blown up. I had no choice but to go up and do a temporary fix to keep the house dry. There is no felt paper under the shingles and the seal down strips can not seal with the cellophane still in place. I am lucky that in 6 years I have not had a serious problem as I am gone sometimes for more than a month. I also had big problems with the dealer that I bought the home from and a lot of the original set up work was done poorly and I ended up doing it either myself or hiring the work done. I can not give BonnaVilla a good recommendation with a roofing job that was not done properly. This is very serious.

We bought a Bonnavilla home several years ago and its by far the best house we ever lived in.It's really holding up to its name in this high desert rural community.

We love our home, there are no words to descibe, we would definately buy another one!!

Anyone who takes time to compare modular homes will quickly see for themselves how much better built Bonnavilla's are. I have owned and lived in 3 different homes in the past 50 years and would buy nothing else. The higher price is easily regained in the utility savings, resell value, and overall quality of life. I do agree that there some poor quality sales people out there and I've had my share of those. But Bonnavilla is by far a superior home.

My wife and I enjoy our home and plan on purchasing another. Can you forward the following concern I have to someone who can help me about my siding. The house was built 10/10/01, Bonnavilla, Model number 870GB-10, S/N NEB 20-A29079. Some of the Vinyl Siding in front of the house was installed too short, when it contacts you can see the backing. Thank you for your time.

I have lived in my BonnaVilla home for almost 6 years and I could not be happier with it. In my lifetime I have owned 9 houses, 6 of which were new. All were stick built except this one. Some were custom built as well. I designed this house, knowing by now what I like and didn't like. I have to say that I like this one best. The distributor and his service manager, no longer in business unfortunately, were just great. There may come a time in the near future that I will buy another house and at this point I would not hesitate to buy another BonnaVilla. That is why I am on this site, to see if they are still in business...which thankfully they are.

i own a goldenvilla home and i like the quality of the home. this is my 2nd home and i am very happy with it. I recommend a chief industries home to anyone in the market for a manufactured or modular home. this company has been around for quite some time now and they are very flexible in meeting your needs.

We are S-O-L-D on the Bonna Villa homes! Jay at Westwood Manor in Liberty, MO gave us a tour of your homes and pointed out all the superior construction features. He gave us that tour nearly 2 years ago and we have been living with the dream of owning one of your homes since then! Looks like the time is just about here because we have found a site we want to put it on at Linn Valley Lakes south of Kansas City. Thank you for offering such a great product.

When we decided to buy a modular home we did our homework very thoroughly and chose a BonnaVilla home. We are so pleased that we did. We love our home and the construction and quality are outstanding. The factory was very willing to work with in customizing portions of the home and our sales staff was very accommodating. We were somewhat prepared for a nightmare, like so many other stories that we had heard, but we have been pleasantly surprised. The home was delivered on time, and was set within 1 1/2 weeks and completely done within 3 weeks. Any issues that we had were taken care of promptly by the sales staff and also the manufacturer. We went with a dealer in Scottsbluff Nebraska and our after sale service has been amazing. We could not be more pleased.

we are very pleased with our 2005 BonnaVilla home. the dealer we bought it from is no longer in business, and was not a very good product support company. the carpet was wavy, and they tried to fix it, and tore the carpet, and did not offer to replace it. I called the sales person to report it, and he said he would see if they had any of our type of carpet. He did not do anything about it either.

The quality of the home is fine. The issue is with the selling distributor. We had more issues than we imagined possible with them. The house was set on the foundation incorrectly and bathtubs and showers do not drain properly. Always a puddle in a corner. We pointed out the exact problems that needed to be fixed and their attitude was one of "we are done with you". This leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
