| Editorial Review | This company is currently closed. Our opinion is that American Standard Building Systems provides quality panelized homes. Panelized homes are factory built like modular homes but are built in much smaller units. Despite our opinion of their construction quality we do not feel comfortable with American Standard Building homes because their homes are handled by home buyers and not experienced general contractors. Most home owners are not experienced enough to finish their home construction. Many mortgage companies do not allow you to build your own home since the amount of risk is too high. Also some localities require builders' insurance which will eat into your cost savings. For the 20% cost savings it is just not worth it in our opinion. When you a hire a general contractor you are not just hiring a set of hands to do the work, you are hiring knowledge and experience which 99% of us do not have. We feel that you should reconsider the modular manufacturers and avoid DIY options. Building a home for your family to live in is not something you should ever take a risk with but this is just our opinion. We encourage you to contact American Standard Building Systems for their point of view. |

BOOTHE from virginiaWE BUILT ONE OF YOR HOMES. WE DID IT BY OURSELVES, THE ONLY THING YOU DID WAS TO CLOSE IT IN AND PUT THE ROOF ON. IT IS BEAUTIFUL . I WISH THAT MY GRAND CHILDREN AND GREAT GRAND CHILDREN WERE ABLE TO DO THE SAME. SORRY YOU ARE OUT OF BUSINESS. HOPE THAT YOU WILL REOPEN AGAIN.
Tim Chambers from northern VirginiaWe used ASBS for our previous building project, and they were excellent from helping with the design, to choosing and explaining cost of options, to delivery. They stayed in touch all along, their staff was courteous all through, and their price couldn't be matched. The quality was perfect. We didn't need to make any modifications of their panels (it's important that your foundation be exactly as specified in your plans- this is what your panelized builder will be going off of).
The ONLY thing that I'd have changed: that they put straps on the panels for the crane to grab onto and lift in place.
Five stars, no doubt. I sure hope they are not closed as in "out of business" closed. I highly recommend them.
