|Editorial Review||Sunshine Homes is an above average manufactured home provider for entry level buyers. Their floorplans are not spectacular but this family owned business does take pride in their workmanship and customer service. They have established a reputation of quickly responding to their customers. This is a good value option for entry level home buyers but it is probably not the best option for upscale home buyers.|

Personal Reviews of Sunshine Homes
David Barr from Foley, AL
Our Sunshine Home is the best built manufactured home that I've seen. A lot of the complaints that I see on here are about the dealership where they bought the home or can be attributed to improper set up. I was on site we they set mine up. I made sure they did everything they were supposed to. I love the home, I did a lot of research before I bought it and it has worked out great.

Mine is a 2015 model, purchased in Nov 2014. They look great on the lot, but you don't really get to see what they look like for the buyer. I got the "Presidential " upgrade on "woodwork". There is NO actual wood involved, only cardboard with woodgrain contact paper. Have had to glue shower door handles. They break off with minimal pressure. Can't even hang a large bath towel on them... The flooring has small punctures everywhere. (They were the on delivery) Upgraded carpet already needs replaced. Gaps between cabinets...the list goes on and on. But once you take delivery, nothing can be done. THE POOREST workmanship I've ever seen. Can't wait for my walls to start rotting! My advice is RUN, DON'T WALK,as fast as you can away from a Sunshine manufactured home. Not to mention, the price was approximately 95,000.00$. If 0 stars was an option, that's what I would give!

bought new in 1995, just out of warranty (of course) we had leakage from the hot water tank. found when installed, they had crushed the overflow pan installing it, so no safety feature. we finally called HUD in MO, the inspector found a list of federal & state laws broken in the manufacture of our home. Sunshine basically said, too bad, we filed (threw in trash) your pics, and the write up for breaking the laws, apparently that's all they get, is a write up. no teeth. So they don't care. we finally redid our electrical box 2 yrs ago. we had problems with breakers throwing all the time. nothing was labeled correctly. and they had wired TWO bedrooms (including master bed) & a bathroom. on the same circuit. talk about overload! recently, we had to replace some flooring, due to water damage, and found a big wad of wires, connected to nothing, we hope not live, just laying in the insulation. and a hole cut in the floor, with carpet pad & carpet laid over it. I could go on and on, but it's basically a poorly made product. very! the list of laws broken & wrong with the home, is filed with MO. it doesn't even list the other stuff we found through the yrs.

We bought our mobile home in 2002 we have had nothing but problems ever since we've had it from plumbing to the floor pretty much the whole thing has been the problem now the floors are getting weak in the kitchen and there's no water in that spot ....it's ridiculous. .. NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE FLOOR. .. When we get rid of this we WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER buy another sunshine mobile home...take heed to my warning

Have lived in our home approx 1 year. We were very specific of our requests when ordering our home. When problems were identified after delivery- were patched or took 8 months to get repairman to home and work still not complete. Great salesman when purchasing home, worst customer service post purchase. I have called Sunsine dealership in Tupelo, MS no less than 10 times. Still have work not completed. Please do not choose this option for housing. You will regret it

Purchased a "Clubhouse" from dealer and was told is was the "Cadillac" of mobile homes. As time passes and time takes its toll things fall apart. The White colored electrical recepticals that porch light, water faucet, and exterior electrical recepticals fit into beging to dererioate. Sunshine Homes?Arrowhead home sales do not supply after market replacement parts and in no way are willing to help make things right. I now have water running down inside the interior sheathing and into my basement as a result of no support after sales. Otherwise the homes are good but not spectacular. Sorely disappointed in service after sales

Very disappointed, after 6 yrs roof leaks in 2 places, shingles very bad quality, faucet handles fell off,& having to replace my ooof at a cost of $7000-8000. Beware company not very helpful, 25 yr shingle and you only get 6 yrs and the roof leaks???

We bought a Sunshine Home in 2000. This was our first modular/double wide as we've had convential homes in the past. We bought it for the 2460 sq foot size and the low cost. We should have been watching out for the cost issue as this home is built as Bare Bones as Sunshine could get away with! We've had multiple plumbing issues, electrical issues and this weekend I bought my wife a electric range( had gas since the home was new) NO ELECTRICITY even hooked up to the floor outlet! We had to replace the roof after 4 1/2 years! Plumbing issues after 3 years in the master bath made us have to replace the floor. We've had leaks all over the plumbing. The carpet was worn out 3 years after buying the home. 50% of the insulated windows sweat like crazy since we've owned the home. The quality is poor...poor. My suggestion for anyone...look at buying a site built home. You will not have an investment in one of these or any mobile home you buy. Kind of like buying a new car I'm sorry to say. Most calls I've made to Sunshine after our 2nd year of owning this home were a waist of my time and energy. They wouldn't help out on any issue. The dealer went belly up about 2-3 years after we bought the home. My final suggestion to each of you considering this purchase....BUYER BEWARE!

Jerry Ackerman from Natchitoches,la
My house was ok. Now my roof has roof rott. I was told that the shingles needed to be place 1 inch over the edge so the water wont come back in underneat the shingles. it is know fact that most builders wont do the each. I was told that today when I a roofer to come and inspect my roof and insurance company wont do anything because it is normal wear and tear on the roof. If I knew this infor. I wouldnt have gotten a home. Now I have to replace the roof and it will not be cheap. so I will warn others to becarefull and ask for the shingles to lap over the edge so you wont have the problems we have now. we have spent money and we do work hard for our money and now they said there is nothing we can do.
Harry Getz from Mena, AR
It is a sad state of affair when workmanship is non-exisiting when it comes to the construction of the mobile home, especially the roof. For a unit that is only 7 years old and needed to replace the entire roof due to rotten wood is a disgrace. Now I understand why only a one year warrenty is offered. It isn't worth giving it a rating !!!!!
Paul Dimitry from Story, AR
I've got roof rot which seems to be a problem other people have. I like the design but quality materials seems to be low. Mine is only a 2003 model year.

We bought our Sunshine in 2002 and our model is a 2003 BW-579. We are very happy for the most post. Yes, there are a couple of cracks in the ceiling, but that is from the ground settling which is common even in a site build home. The ONLY negative we have is the shower install in the second bath is defective. It isn't the mobile home, but the entire shower unit. We didn't know it was defective until our daughter moved home five years after we lived in our home. So it is too late for warranty work. That's not Sunshine's fault. We paid for several upgrades, and plan on buying a double wide or modular within the next two years. We don't want a site built home, and our Sunshine has us sold on another - hopefully we will have the same excellant quality.

I bought my sun shine home in 2003. It was a 2004 model Every thing went well except year 2010 i found ROOF ROT that looks like it started years ago at the valley and of coarse the warrantee was for 1 year on every thing except the floor and shingles. I`m not pleased with the ROOF ROT. Up untill this point i was going to buy a sun shine for my land in Mississippi because of the ROOF ROT I have decided to look for a different brand of mobile home.

Our experiance with Sunshine has been good but the rinky dink out fit that sold us the home is a joke.Sunshine has held up to what has been told to us that they repair if need be and they have. Brother 3 Homes in Cedar Rapids on the other hand has not. Lie after lie and blame others for thier screw ups. I think Sunshine probably gets some blame for what the dealer does not up hold on thier end. I was promised that my home would be up by the end of October and then by Thanksgiving of 2008. They set it the 2cd week of January of 2009. The dealers basement crew built the basement wrong. House was damaged putting it up. The dealers finish crew cut siding inside the house. On the carpet. The drywall man that drywalls after the two halves are together was pothetic. My problem is not with Sunshine but with the dealer they have to sale thier product. Which reflectS on Sunshine. We lost our first home to fire and was told that modular was the quickest, easiest, less stressful, and affordable. Wrong!

We bought our presidential home in aug. 2008 and we still can not get work done on it. We have bowed walls cracked tub due to it being force in an opening to small for the tub. Cracks galore in sheetrock walls, siding bowing out and seperating at seems for water to run behined. I love my house, but the service is very bad and I'm beginning to think the quality is poor also. Sunshine has been out about 4 times to fix things and they dont fix them they just patch over things. We upgrade every thing in this home and was our retirement home. We have also had alot of problems with Elite homes who we bought it through. Very bad service. Stay away from them.

We bought our Sunshine Presidential after Hurricane Rita. After 3 weeks we had mold on the ceiling over the MB tub, around the exhaust fan and in the guest bath and guest BR. The factory did not seal the duct work around the heater. About six months later the mold came back they came and sprayed it with clorox and said all was okay. about a month later it came back so they send an air induction tester and found there were leaks coming from the sealing. Before any thing could be done about it Hurrican IKE came and flooded it so the factory says all of my problems are storm related which is impossible since the problems started before the storm. Also when it was delivered and set up the top did not meet but the installers said it was no problem they would cover it up. Little did we know at the time but because of the gap at the top the marriage seal was not even touching. This we found out after the hurricane because we gutted everything and you can see the seal was not even touching. Therefore, I feel all of my mold problems was because of the marriage seal not sealing and all of the hot air from the attic was meeting the cold air in the home and causing humidity therefore the black mold which was behind all of the crown molding when we gutted the mobile home after IKE. Also the front half is not square which is probably why it would not go together at the top. As far as construction it does not even get one star. Service from the factory might get half a star. But the overall beauty of the inside gets a 5 star. This was my dream home and I am very disappointed that the factory will not work with me in any way. I had the home 13mo. and 6 days before IKE.
SUSAN HOFFPAUIR from Winnie, Texas
