| Editorial Review | Professional Building Systems provides modular homes for the North and South Carolina area. They are connected with another factory Pennsylvania. These homes are appealing and would blend in well in any neighborhood. These homes match up well against stick-built homes. Our mystery shopper reports that their website is not the most user friendly and is a little difficult to find information. If you are interested in more information from them we would recommend that you just call them for more information about their modular homes. |

Personal Reviews of Professional Building Systems of NC, LLC
JESS MEADOWS from FRANKLIN, NC MY SISTER PURCHASED A HOME FROM YOUR DISTRIBUTOR SOUTHERN HOMES OF WNC. THE HOME WAS GOOD QUALITY. THE PROBLEM WAS THE CONTRACTOR (SMI CONSTRUCTION) THE WORKMANSHIP WAS OF VERY POOR QUALITY. OUTSIDE CONTRACTORS HAD TO BE BROUGHT IN TO FINISH SOME NEED WORK. EVERYTHING BECAME AN EXTRA EXPENSE FROM THE INITIONAL SALE PRICE.. TODAY SOME OF THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND OTHER PROBLEMS HAVE STILL NOT BEEN DEALT WITH. I DID NOT PURCHASE THE HOME BUT BE SURE THAT BECAUSE OF SMI CONSTRUCTION I MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE I SPEAK TO KNOWS THAT I WOULD NOT PURCHASE ANY HOME BUILT BY OR THROUGH SOUTHERN HOMES OF WNC (SMI CONSTRUCTION) THOUGH IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT YOUR ASSOCIATION WITH THEM LEAVES A BAD TASTE IN MY MOUTH AND PROBABLY OTHERS WHO JUST WANTS TO BE RID OF SMI AND THEIR EXCUSES. SORRY THAT I FEEL THAT WAY BUT WE NEEDED A RELIABLE CONTRACTOR FOR OUR FUTURE DEVELOPMENT. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.
RESPECTFULLY JESS MEADOWS Noah Yoder Builder from Stuarts Draft VA I have been a modular home builder-dealer for over 20 years, and have dealt with 8 different manufacturers. I have been with PBS for about 7 years now, and will say they are a great company and stand behind their product. I plan to continue to build with them. To Jerrie Owen, it appears to me that you were a home-owner trying to be a contractor and because of lack of experience sort of made a mess of things. Please, home-owners, if you purchase a modular home it is VERY important that you hire an experienced builder to set and complete your home! The quality of the finished product depends on it! Diane Clay from Asheville I have worked with PBS for about 3 years and could not be more pleased with their product and service. I feel they have done everything possible to make every effort to make sure that the quaility of the homes and the their service exceptional. B & D Modular Home Distributors, Inc. Jerrie Owen from Arden, NC I'd give 0 stars if you had the option. I was burned out of my house in June and had to build another one. What a nightmare. I had this house delivered 11/19/07 and the nightmare continues. I still have 4 doors that won't close, a ragged hole behind the fireplace, tile that doesn't match, damaged tile, huge bubbles in the ceiling, shelves that don't fit the pantry size, broken light bases in the ceiling, etc. I received the wrong size trim for the marriage wall doors, the wrong thickness of sheetrock for the marriage wall ceiling, had to change the mismatched toilets and there are rust spots in the kitchen sink. These are just a few of the problems that I am taking pictures of and documenting for the BBB. I guess quality control was on vacation when my house was built. I have been waiting patiently for "Bob" to send someone up here to fix these things, but I guess he's too busy to take care of his customers. Granted, it's not a real expensive house, but I thought the quality would be comparable. Guess not. Anyone wanting to look at one of PBS's houses in order to check the quality before you buy,is welcome to look at mine. Thanks, Jerrie Owen, 828-216-1681 Update from Ramon L. Sanchez-Vinas General Manager of Professional Building Systems of NC, LLC This was unfortunately sold as an "owner completion" sale, something we generally do not condone unless done with a strictly and clearly worded agreement protecting all parties, including the manufacturer. With that said, PBSNC sent service crews on at least three occasions, the last being on April 1, 2008. Ms. Owens signed off on the work. We took care of items that would have normally been a part of our service commitment and some items that were not. We did this in the spirit of helping Ms. Owens through here self inflicted mess. The subcontractors she used were of poor quality and the results were less than acceptable. PBSNC and/or the builder in turn received the blame, some of which was deserved.
In checking this morning with our Service Manager, Mr. Junior Cockman, to our knowledge there are two minor items the builder will be taking care of for Ms. Owens. The installation of a new shower door in the master bathroom and the wiring of the blower for the fireplace.
I trust Ms. Owens will then feel that we were responsive and delivered up to expectations.
