| Editorial Review | Preferred Building Systems is not well known to us. We have tried to research them but have had difficulty. That is probably since they are very new to the modular industry. Until we know more about them we really can't say positive or negative things about their homes. Our mystery shopper can talk about the hair pulling frustrating experience with Preferred Building Systems. The website does not have alot of information. We don't feel comfortable with a modualr home manufacturer that does not include an online photo gallery. Why don't they want to show their impressive work? We especially don't feel comfortable when their online form is broken and we get forwarded to voicemail. If a potential customer has to work this hard we have serious doubts about their long term customer care. |

Personal Reviews of Preferred Building Systems
Bryan from NH My wife and I built a Preferred Building Systems home through a local builder in early 2008 and were very pleased not only with the quality, but also the ability to select the products we wanted. My wife enjoyed picking out the Kraftmaid kitchen cabinets from a wide selection of styles and finishes available. I was very impressed with the fact that we went through our first NH winter 2008/2009 and used only 675 gallons of propane to heat our 2,600 square foot house. We were told that our heating usage would be about 1/2 of a house of similar size built to the 2006 energy code. Our house scored a 5 star plus rating in the energy star program. We are both very happy we decided to build our home by going modular. B Kilburn from NH Having had a tour of the factory in Claremont, I can say that PBS seems to be a manufacturer of high end modular homes with quality construction and Energy Star rating,. (witch means their modular homes use at least 15% less energy than standard homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code). The construction seen to me (a non-professional) to be a step above what we had seen elsewhere and they offered an impressive variety of both cosmetic (cabinets and fixtures) and structural options. The one thing that is holding us up from going with them is that old saying "you get what you pay for" or in this case, you pay for what you get...the price reflects the quality of materials and detailed workmanship that seems to come with their homes and their estimates are coming in higher that the other company we're looking at right now, Pleasant valley, out of Pa.
