Our Review

Editor's Rating
Editorial ReviewDue to a combination of the bad economy and their factory being flooded, Manorwood Homes has relocated to the Pennwest facility. We like their quality modular homes. They are an established provider with a good reputation for solid workmanship. Our mystery shopper was very pleased dealing with their customer service. We also enjoyed their website with online floorplans. Modular home buyers should consider them when choosing this home builder. These homes look very good in suburban neighborhoods. They matched up very well against old fashioned stick-built homes. The builders we spoke with also spoke highly of the quality control process Manorwood used.

Personal Reviews of Manorwood Homes

Joan from NY
Unfortunately we do not own a Manorwood Home. We worked for months with a sales rep, picked out a home with options, but, when our appraisal came in, we were $60,000 short. We are super sad, my husband has been in the Army for 28 years and this was going to be our retirement home. The homes are well built and so beautiful. Unfortunately this Army family will have to look at other homes.

We thought we were buyinr a quality home and its everything but a quality home.Every cabinet in the house is cracked, shower valves leak with no access,no access to the toe kick heater,no access co whirlpool mixing valve which leaks, only half of the kick board installed on the trusses, roof not straight, doors dont latch and you can see every seam in the drywall. It appears there is no quality control at manorwood

Anthony from New Jeresy
I am a Manorwood home owner who got a drop and Set thru a local builder. Our home was built exactly how we spec'd it out. Due to old reviews I read on this forum, I called and spoke directly to the and asked questions regarding these reviews and they were very forthcoming. As mentioned already, they have a new facility, explained to me how they were going to built our home even before we choose them. We even had a visit from a Manorwood executive after our home was set to see how we liked the home and asked what they could do better. This visit may have been due to the fact our local builder had a few Manoorwoods going up due to Super Storm Sandy but he spent time looking at our house and wa nted our feedback which was nice. We are happy with our Manorwood home!!

Adam from St. Marys PA
I am a builder of manorwood homes. Manorwood moved to a new state of the art faciltiy in 2011 after a flood destroyed their old manufacturing facility. They offer quality homes at very affordable prices. With the new factory comes all new staff and high commitment to quality control. i am very selective who i build for and they produce a very nice home at a very affordable price point. The quality of the homes they produce are as good as any of the best in the modular home business. And now with the new IRC building code every home is inspected at the factory so you know your getting a very well built home. I believe that some of the reviews above were because of bad builders because I have not seen any of those things in any of my manorwood homes. And my customers are very happy with them.

This also was suppose to be our dream home, we change the design to what we dreamed of having in a home. We did alot of upgrades. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND MANORWOOD HOMES!!! The Plattsburgh Housing should have told us that this company does not fix problems in a timely manner or not at all, they represented this company to us and we put all our faith in them, they misrepresented this company to us telling us how great they were. First our back patio door was not installed correctly and they sent someone to look at it 4 times, the cold & hot air was coming in so bad all winter & summer, they finally put in a new door, which time after time we told them we needed, that only took 16 months to fix. I called Steve Anderson at Manorwood so many times and he would NEVER return my phone calls. They don't stand behind their products. In the living room and kitchen every screw is coming out of the sheetrock, not their problem though, we had no control over who did the work on our house, so if it was bad quality I guess to bad for us, it never got fixed but they did send a guy to take pictures of it and he even said this is bad. We upgraded and had a propane fireplace put in our living room, it is only a steel insert no bricks or anything, so cheap but we paid alot for it. All the faucets are the cheapest you can get. Had sewer fumes going into our master bath because the piping wasn't done right. The light fixtures are so cheap. I wish I would have seen these reviews before we bought this house, if I would I would not have picked it. We paid alot for our dream home and I am so disappointed. Very poor quality. They should have a 0 for a rating. I highly recommend research the company you are thinking about buying from.

OMG, after only about 5 yrs all my roof boards (panels) that are held on with staples are all lifting off. From the outside there are spots that the shingles are raised up so high you can see it from the road. The openings it created are so large you can see down into the attic. Too many other major things wrong to list (siding falling off), but the roof is the major one and will require someone to rebuild my roof soon. I have a better warranty on my car. Nice job Manorwood "craftsman". You should all be prosecuted!

Dave from Basye, VA
We have been in our Manorwood home for just over 2 years now. It is a very nice looking and sturdy home. It has withstood many "weather events" with no problems. It is important to find a good distributor that will work with you and the Valley Custom Home team has fit the bill well. There will always be problems with any kind of new home construction so the key is a good relationship based on mutual trust and respect with your builder. Chris and his people are experienced, friendly, and do a great job. We work things out as the situation evolves.

Brandon from Harrisonburg,VA
My wife and I are EXTREMELY happy with how our Manorwood home turned out. It was everything Chris at Valley Custom Homes said it would be. These modulars are built as good if not better than any stick built home out there at a fraction of the cost. Lets face it they have to be built strong to be picked up with a crane and set on the foundation. I have and will keep recommending Valley Custom Homes(Manorwood Homes) to any body looking to built. They treated us like family.

Julie from Massanutten VA
I have been in my Manorwood Home since 1997. It was one of the first Cape Cods they had built and they built it well. I think most of the problems people are talking about are due to the distributor the home was bought from and their subs, not Manorwood. So pick a reputable distributor.

House has been set for 4-weeks. Halves dont fit together Inside walls dont match up. Foot holes in ceilings, fireplace fell apart, heat registers inside closets, broken floor joists, kitchen backsplash falling off. House is setting with no response from an extremely inferior dealer "GO MODULAR" or from the factory who promised factory backup. Beware of GO MODULAR and MANORWOOD

Albert Deichler from pike county PA
on the last posting told every how the house was now trying to deal with the bogus warranty company that says window water leaks not covered and every other item is not covered. So what type of back handed warranty do they offer.,BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!! Manorwood only will let you buy thru one of their approved builders, wonder why6 maybe because they work together to cover the problems , push you out and hope only the vactioner, weekenders will but their products so you will never see them again. RESEARCH BEFORE DEALING WITH THEM. Great info while looking and buying but VERY POOR after you sign contract.

Allbert from PA
Thought this was our dream home, well it is if you like horror. I am only going to list a few things as there are so many faults. 1st the floor in the livingroom has never been even - the builder blames maorwood and MW blames the builder, 2nd the attic access doors all fell down which I had to fix bathroom shower stall not installed correctly and damaged, bathroom sink became loose and the repairman ruined the top which they changed with a fight, 3rd the linoleum in had slices in it which they refused to replace 4th dirt under the linoleum, 5th nail coming thru the carpet and punturing the foot 6th the shower fixture leaked 7thcould not open kitchen drawers so they finally sent a repairman which added cardboard uner the counter top for a spacer--real professional to many issues to continue but be very careful of their claimed extended warranty company as they make it so difficult to reach out to that it might as well not exist. A COMPANY NOT TO BE TRUSTED ---SO SORRY WE BOUGHT THERE HELENBURG T-RANCH
WHAT A MISTAKE..... ALSO THERE SERVICE MANAGER IS NO HELP. By the way our builder-contractor was BR Keeley a perfect combination.......BUYER BEWARE

richard ruckdeschel from interlaken,ny
house set up on foundation was poor, house is separating , door frames crooked, walls crooked floors slanting to one side, lots of roof leaks siding constantly coming off the house. i contact one their local retailers in freeville for their repair contactors call several times have not received any return calls. i would not recommend this home builder and retail ditributors to one.

Ted Greene from Rehoboth Del
New in 1997 Very well pleased

Raymond from Freeville, NY
First the bad. One of the main selling points was the speed. But with speed comes quality issues. Materials from the Price Pfister cheap plumbing(shower head already coming apart), softwood and soft drywall everywhere easy to dent and scratch, the inside cabinets are MDF covered with thin wall paper material. It pays to look past the specification and more at the materials. The worst part of the experience has been the finishing of the home. After almost two months living in my home, American Homes still has not finished exterior elements, like roof caps and shutters. They are unprofessional, and lack the ability to communicate effectively as to when the will come to finish the job. Now the good, the sales rep Jean was really nice, she has been a great help, and work with us. The home is what I paid for in structure, it is sound, the problem area can be easily upgraded. I ordered a cape cod modular price around $64 per sq ft for just the home, excluding site improvements, and does not count for the upstairs which I plan I finishing. If I was to do it again I would look closer at the materials, and may have put some timing requirements in the contract with pentalties.

Denise from Pennsylvania
My husband and I are extremely happy with our Manorwood Home. Not only was the home very affordable, the quality was actually better then we expected and the service from Manorwood has been great. They stood behind the product and took care of all of our service issues in a timely manner. I would highly recommend them!

Gina from Catawissa PA
We saw manorwood at the Hershey Home Show on March 30,2008. We were very impressed with the modular home on display.
