Personal Reviews of Icon Legacy Custom Modular Homes

Trish from Pennsylvania
Horrible craftsmanship. We chose the company based on research and visit to factory. What we got delivered was crap. A completely unfinished home, missing shingles, siding, trim etc. The house leaks air like a screen. The roof is a mess, insulation missing, windows that have gaps. The factory won't even talk to us. We've had to put over $50k more into the house just to semi finish it. It has ruined us and now we are stuck with a home that has insulation problems, window problems, cabinet problems, major roof problems. We could have built a home from scratch of half the cost. Contractors we have tried to hire won't even touch the place. The company shipped the house late and less than half finished and not enough materials to finish the house. No one door works inside or out, doors are twisted. Major cracking of drywall, nails coming up through linoleum, drywall not screwed to 2x4s, shelving pulling off dry wall not attached to studs. Has anyone had success get restitution?

We haven't even gotten to the poor workmanship phase yet! Can't wait to have that to deal with! We paid our local builder for drawings from Icon Legacy so he could get a building permit back in June and today is January 3, 2014. The salesman has no idea what he's doing, has sent emails to our local builder asking questions he had the answers to months ago, and has been telling our builder since September we will have our stamped drawings needed for a building permit "by the end of the week". When I call as the consumer, the receptionist actually laughs at me and told me no one from the president on down will speak to me. The only person they will speak to is our builder and they are refusing to talk to him now either. The only person anyone can get through to is the totally incompetent sales rep, George. When I contacted my state's code enforcement office to see what is holding up our fire sprinkler permit, they had nothing even pending. Icon's Director of Engineering replied back to the state they haven't even submitted the drawings for approval because of a disagreement between us and our local builder, which has never been an issue. Our local builder is at his wits end too. This is total bull and I have the emails from George to prove it!! I personally emailed a copy of those emails to the Director of Engineering and not even our builder can get a response back. We seem to have caught them up in many, many lies and now they don't have a way to cover their butt. We can't live with family in one room forever while they hold our money and don't supply the product we have paid for!!! Then we'll have to deal with their construction? Boy, am I looking forward to that . . . not!!!!

Was promised $2000.00 lowes gift card rebate if we purchased garage (we have it in writing on contract that we would receive it once house/garage was delivered). They now refuse to give it to us. Was also promised $1000.00 discount off of home if my father bought a home and he did. We did not get discount that was promised by Randy AT Icon legacy's workshop. Did not ship proper amount of osb plywood as per contract and they shorted us a bar light (we paid for 3 and have 2). Now ALL our sheet rock seams are cracking and ceiling sheet rock seams are EXPOSED. It is very embarrassing to show people our home and say it's new while it looks like it needs some spackling sanding and a new paint job AGAIN!
I also tried to settle this matter with BBB who at the time with all these complaints and others rate them an A, I also went through NJ consumer and PA attorney generals office. All we get is a reply from the factory and the agency asking if we would like to close the case or reply back. As if we are getting nowhere. Just close them down. God forbid if I didn't pay them or held money back. By the way NEVER pay balance on a new home or ANY type of construction that requires permits and inspections until you get the final pass inspection and CO!! ALWAYS hold 10% of total bill. (150,00.00 hold $15,000.00) Your sure to get the job done and done properly.

These guys did a less than average with the dry wall. The worst thing is that the HVAC duct work for my Cape Cod was pathetic and inadeguate. It is costing me 7 K to put ductless HVAC in my second floor. There should have been two supliers insted of one to each bedroom upstairs according to 3 other professionals that looked at the problem.Andy Binghaman told my GC it's his problem.I will let you know how I come out after speaking with the owner. If they made me whole I would move them to a higher rating. They did come out and service some other problen and it was done pretty well.

William from PA
Poor workman ship through out.Electrical outlets falling out of the walls.loose and or crooked.Carpet baggie not laid correctly.Dry wall horrible job.One wall leans inward, not flat. The builder said thats normal lol.Bulkhead around a storage cabinet in bath crooked.Cheap as cheap can be faucets, fixtures and lighting.Sheathing around sill needs to be caulked.3/4-1 inch gap.energy efficient? My best guess is they hire tech school kids to build there homes.unpainted wall behind utility tub.warped and crooked hand railing.porch railing and post warped.Nails popping up into vinyl flooring.flooring lumpy.you can feel the seem on the 4x8s floor sheathing not screwed or glued. The floors sound like a 100 year old home creaking and popping while walking about.Once again I told this is normal.Horrible experience. Horrible attitude, its just a basement, its just a attic, its just a laundry area. Its just my life savings I spent on this home....run away from Icon

Sloppy craftsmanship throughout nothing meets. bedroom ceiling where it was cut out at the factory sheet rock not touching ceiling joist starting to crack set crew a bunch of Mexicans gone wild with a nail gun home failed inspection no co manufacture does not respond d in a timely manner. Refuses to talk to me must go through the builder. Every time I try to finish an area other problems arise. According to Icon this is normal. I am not a builder. They should be ashamed to build such a piece of garbage and call it a quality home. Stop by I will show you their work

John Ryan from Connecticut
I bought an Icon Legacy home. I was overall satisifed with the product. I was disappointed they would not service or pay for their mistakes.
